Apramycin sulfate(Cas 41194-16-5) Usage

General Description

Apramycin sulfate is a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic used in veterinary medicine to treat bacterial infections in livestock, particularly in poultry. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria, and is effective against a wide range of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. Apramycin sulfate is not FDA-approved for use in humans, but has been used off-label in some cases to treat multi-drug resistant bacterial infections. It is typically administered through injection or added to animal feed. Like other aminoglycoside antibiotics, there is a risk of nephrotoxic and ototoxic side effects with prolonged use of apramycin sulfate.
